IQ Air filters, Indoor air filtration
You hear Indoor Air Filters, eg. IQAir, being advertised everyday. These cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars
to buy, used electricity, and require regular expensive replacement of filters. The effectiveness of portable air filtration
machines is limited to a small area as the intake and discharge points are within feet of each other.
I recently
tested a house for mold and the mold spore levels were found to be higher in the room where the Owner had an
IQAir machine running continuously.
To achieve effective improvement in an entire house's indoor air quality actions
should be taken in priority to remove sources of dust, mold, chemicals and off-gassing; seal sources of dust, chemicals, and
off-gassing; provide sufficient ventilation relative to the size of the home; and finally, as a last step, use filtration.
An indoor air quality investigation will cost less than an air filter and provide you with a list of prioritized actions
to take to achieve long term improvement in the air quality of the entire house. Generally the most effective actions have no
or low cost. Call Daryl at 403 874 6084 to schedule an indoor air quality investigation, based on the CMHC protocol.
